It feels really good to hug him and Maeve slips her arms around his waist, pulling herself close against his chest so she can close her eyes and rest her cheek against his chest where she can hear his heart beating.

"I missed you," she says.

Maeve doesn't really think she's any good at this. Being a girlfriend, being in a proper relationship, she worries a lot of the time Steve is going to realize it eventually and just end things with her. She worries this might be that point, the fact that she doesn't want a family just too big a hurdle for him to jump over and she would understand that.

It would be awful and it would break her heart, but she would understand.
